Airway restoration and correction utilizing Cranial Facial Release (CFR)

Airway Breathing

It is impossible for the body to function optimally without proper oxygenation. The Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is an advanced, endo-nasal, “Balloon Assisted”, cranial-adjusting technique that has been successful in the treatment of various neurological and structural disorders. It opens the airway and improves the body’s ability to get oxygen to the brain. Energy for the body is produced through a combustion-like process when your body combines oxygen with a fuel. This fuel is burned at an exceptionally slow rate which produces a steady source of energy. This process takes place in tiny parts within the cell called mitochondria. Mitochondria contain a series of specialized protein molecules or enzymes which transfers the energy released from the oxidation process to a storage molecule called adenosine triphosphate, or ATP. ATP delivers energy within the cells of the body, which in turn maintains the chemical reactions that are necessary for the cells to function properly. For cells to properly reproduce, migrate, and fulfill their useful role, they must have enough energy.

CFR is a specialized technique developed from a previous endo-nasal, cranial-adjusting procedure called Bilateral Nasal Specific (BNS). BNS was pioneered by Dr. Richard Stober in the 1960’s. The modern, and more patient-friendly version that we use at LVPRC, is called CFR which was developed by Dr. Adam Del Torto.

Who would benefit from CFR?

CFR successfully treats breathing disorders, sinusitis, snoring, sleep apnea, deviated septums, migraine headaches, vertigo, allergies, facial pain (Trigeminal Neuralgia), facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy), TMJ disorder, Post-Concussion Syndrome, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, seizures, neurological disorders, obesity and more.

The objective of Cranial Facial Release

The objective of the CFR technique is to correct cranial fixations and induce mobility in the cranial system or skull. The primary target with the balloon is the sphenoid bone. When the sphenoid bone is moving properly, it facilitates normal cranial respiratory motion and increases your body’s ability to get oxygen to the brain to maximize function.

CFR is performed by a certified and well-trained physician. The physician carefully inserts small balloons into the nasal passages (NOT THE SINUSES), or more specifically, the naso-pharynx. Once the balloon is positioned properly, the balloon is then quickly inflated which mobilizes the bones of the face and cranium. It is a very quick procedure and feels similar to the sensation of water shooting up your nose. It isn’t exactly painful, but not the most comfortable sensation either – but it’s quick!

The whole ballooning process takes about 2 to 3 seconds. The treatment is performed in a series of four (4) individual days with completion in 7-10 days for best results. Patients notice improved breathing almost immediately. Chronic or severe cases usually require 3 to 4 series of CFR treatments.

How does CFR work?

To understand how CFR works, it is critical to understand the anatomy of the skull. First, the skull is NOT one solid bone. It is 22 individual bones that should move independently every time you breathe in and out.  Cranial fixations are common and are often the root causes of many chronic neurological conditions and recurrent pain syndromes. These fixations do not respond to conventional chiropractic adjusting procedures.

Frequent causes of cranial sutural fixations are head trauma, birth trauma, an uneven bite force (TMJ disorder), bruxism, etc. These conditions are seldom detected and rarely addressed properly.   It is important to realize that cranial motion is not one “gross osseous movement.” It is more of an expansion and relaxation movement pattern, with each cranial bone having its own specific direction of motion and each one moving independently of each other.

CFR with Down’s Syndrome

Dr. Stober specialized in the treatment of Down’s syndrome patients – specifically children, treating them with the BNS technique to optimize brain function and elevate their cognitive levels.  Parents traveled great distances with their children to seek out Dr. Stober’s treatment – his waiting room was overrun with desperate parents in search of a natural alternative approach to treatment for their mentally and physically challenged children. His success with this unique treatment method helped numerous children elevate their mental and physical capabilities which later enabled them to live a more functional life as adults.

Airway Restoration Utilizing the Lois Laynee Method

The process of respiration occurs within the cell where fuel from nutrients is combined with oxygen to release energy. Energy production within the body is altered when any one of, or a combination of, the organs involved do not function properly. It is safe to say, that an insufficient supply of oxygen to meet the body’s energy demands would result in a reduction of cellular functioning and/or eventually cellular death.

What is Laynee Restorative Breathing Method?

Breathing is the first functional movement we develop as a human being. Breathing doesn’t take much thought; you usually can’t hear it; and you barely notice it. It should be easy, effortless and so efficient that it gives you nothing but pure energy. We offer personalized care to clients, and seminars aimed at helping health and fitness professionals incorporate effective, restorative breathing techniques into their lives, as well as their clients.

Breathing is essential to our metabolic system, brain function, and our motor control system. When coaching someone to move better for flexibility, weight loss, strength or rehabilitation, proper breathing instructions is paramount to a successful outcome. We coach breathing to our clients, patients, and athletes. We utilize the Laynee Restorative Breathing Method to establish improved breathing patterns or habits. We are Restoring Autonomic Diaphragmatic breathing patterns to have optimal recovery, performance, and life! We will teach you how to harness the one trillion neuro connections in your brain. Whether it’s more energy, healing after a surgery, strength, patience, or a restful night’s sleep, the missing ingredient is oxygen saturation and neurological organization.

L.O.I.S. Breathing™ is an integration of East meets West, blending neurophysiology with cranial facial development, to provide the opportunity to experience less stress immediately through the power of Oxygen. While the Laynee Restorative Breathing Method does not treat any medical condition, we support your natural physiology to create learning, healing, and most importantly, a thriving life.

We blend dynamic principles – four gentle movement patterns that are accomplished in 60 seconds or less:

L – Lips together

O – Teeth apart

I – Breathing in and out through the nose

S – Breathing silently

Then hhhhhuuummmm and Swallow with eyes open

Then repeat three more times… it’s that simple!!!
